San Francisco Drupal User Group a success
The Drupal meetup last night was a huge success. At least 36 people attended at the new CivicSpace Labs/GoodStorm offices on the San Francisco Bay. Many people showed up looking to meet someone who actually knew what Drupal was. Others just wanted to let out their pent up Drupalness.
About one quarter of the attendees are coming to Vancouver. Kaliya Hamlin facilitated the session for 3 hours and helped us break up into several groups: community, media, politics, corporate, and business services.
Matt from WordPress showed up to learn best practices from the Drupal community and shared some insights from WordPress. Daniel Sternberg from SpikeSource showed up and indicated that Drupal was a leading contender as a enterprise content management system. A presentation regarding forming a Drupal Guild was made on behalf of Gregory Heller from CivicActions.
Adrian Freed is going to host the next Bay Area Drupal meeting at Berkeley in February. In the meantime many people will be showing up on IRC and the Drupal documentation team excited to contribute to Drupal.
