Userpoints for Drupal 7: Three Cool UI Enhancements
Over the past few months, I've put a lot of work into the Drupal 7 version of the Userpoints module. Using the module, you can award or deduct points for user participation on your site. Combined with some cool recognition or prizes, the module can help provide a strong incentive for your users to get involved.
Led by the excellent coding work of Berdir (Sascha Grossenbacher), we've totally revamped the user interface, added tons of new features, and cleaned up a lot of the bugs in the Drupal 6 version. So I thought I'd take a moment to point out some of the most noticeable changes and how it can enhance your points-driven website.
New "My Points" Page
This page is used to display points totals for any user. In the old version, point totals were displayed in a confusing manner in paragraph format. Now we've got a complete point transaction table with exposed filter for the category of points. The really cool thing is that when you change the filter, the point total automatically updates to reflect the total for the given category. Check it out in the screenshots below...
Sitewide Points Transactions
What if you want to see all of the points transactions across the entire site? Don't worry, we got that, too, on our nifty new global points transactions page....
View Individual Transactions (and Edit Them, Too)
But what if a user (or customer service rep) needs to really see the details about a given points transaction? Perhaps they even need to issue a points refund! We've now got you covered, too, with a brand new page to view an individual points transaction...
And a special screen where a user with permission can edit the details of that transaction...
The best part is that these are just a few of the many exciting features include in the Drupal 7 branch of Userpoints. I'll explore additional features in upcoming blog posts.
